Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing for T(w)eens...
Starts Here!
Our plan is to use the therapeutic qualities of art to inspire a generation of students who are mindful of their mental health and wellbeing
Soul Strokes is an innovative service project that combines interactive art workshops and therapeutic art kits to empower adolescents by providing them with the resources to foster positive mental health, navigate the complexities of adolescence, and create an accessible mental health program tailored specifically for middle and high schoolers.
The "Soul Strokes" project stems from our shared experiences at a predominantly STEM focused middle school. Despite the tech-centric environment, both of us discovered a unique connection to art, which ultimately became a sanctuary amidst the competitive nature of our environment.
In highschool we both entered an arts school, and here we recognized a growing competitive nature amongst students- in which authentic passions for art, mutated into superficial efforts to recieve medals, and recognition.
This revelation fueled our desire to create "Soul Strokes," a project aimed at sharing the therapeutic benefits of art. We want to provide a creative opportunity for others navigating the complexities of adolescence, turning art into a source of relief and connection. We also hope to alleviate the competivie connotations behind art in our community!
